I
finally got hold of another title from ubisoft about a while back, and for the last couple of months it had been gathering dust on my desk till about a week ago. Out of the need to change my lazy habits I channeled myself into playing it, I had been reluctant to get back in the series caused by not necessary what I would call a bad taste but something I had against the title.
When the first Far Cry came out it couldn't be rivaled on graphics, it set standards that were a sure awe brought on by a new kid on the block. These were the begins from a company I had never heard of, a company named Crytek. On first glance seeing all that rich texture, glimmering water generated from the core of the companies own engine dubbed cry-engine why would I deny what was heaven.

And from there on, for a while I was hooked as like a junkie is to meth, trying to push my sub-standard rig to keep up with the beauty that was coming out of my frail beast, even failing at times as it would crash to the desktop, but as I got trough the story mode my eyes were opened a bit, my high was gone, the title had become what I would say a bit tad. I started seeing aliens, for me at the time it seemed I was playing a game that had a script from die hard mixed-in with E.T., or gremlins even, I couldn't believe it, I couldn't fathom what had been laid in front of mine eyes. As the years went by and the company grew, and I saw that they were obsessed with the idea of alien tech trough their Crysis series, to which I'm not judging, in fact I'm but still a fan to their first Crysis up to this day.

Fast-forward to 2008 UbiSoft had another release, this time it would be an open world set in some west African country I presume-don't blame me never really got around in following the story, even though some of the characters were speaking IsiZulu which baffled me even worse. And so forth I leapt on the roller coaster set by the first title, I thought this new one was goner be major, but nay in the end I couldn't get around to finishing it, my time was best served going trough EA's Need for Speed, and its Fifa.  I don't really know what made me get the next title, but as of now, today... on this day I proclaim that I have seen the third installment, played it and finished it. and with what I experienced in Far Cry 3 I'm only left with one thought in my head... "Gee, I need to get myself Far Cry 4!".

Well diving into the title I like to think of this as Ubisoft's contender against EA's battlefield and Activision's Call of duty, for as like these dominant titles the theme isn't that far off from fighting armies and deranged drug-lords, it has certainly swayed away from dressing you as a US marine by trowing you into the realm of what I believe is the one man against the island gaming theme, there are a bunch of these floating around, such as your Tomb raider reboot, Just Cause 2, and the oldest that's in my head right now is Total Overdose.
Game play is nice so much so that it's the first time I accept that I have finished and enjoyed a Far Cry title, even though as I progressed along I felt as if I was still playing Assassin's Creed, I don't want to spoil it you'll catch the drift within minutes of game time if you're a true Assassin's fan. Any who you play as Jason Brody, a U.S of A citizen who's stuck on a vacation with friends and family in some Island, and you're having the time of your life before realizing that you have woken up to some recorded memories from a phone held by your captor, Vaas. Vaas is a warlord/drug-lord who has also captured your group of friends for a ransom. In seconds you hatch a plan with your big brother to escape from Vaas' custody, and in time you'll free your friends and family one at a time, face Vaas and his boss to which in there end you'll be faced with two endings to pick, I picked the one that is a theme to an American film.
Graphics wise if you got a mid-range gaming ware you will enjoy the detail on this one.
The verdict?

Playability: B
Graphics: B
Environment: A
shock&awe: B
Plot: B
Overall: B***, Awesome title.

*Hint: If you want an effective way of taking over pirate camps at the beginning, scout for one of those jeeps with a mounted mini-Gatling gun to attack the camps with, and then buy yourself a good sniper rifle, perhaps the 50. cal BMG, not sure what it's called in the game but get it with a silencer attachment.

As from me, hasta proto!
